Transform boundary
Transform boundaries occur where two plates slide past on another. The plates either move towards each other at different rates or in the opposite directions. When one plate slips past the other suddenly an Earthquake is created. The Pacific plate is currently sliding past the north American plate creating the San Andrea's Fault in California. A Transform Boundary also known as a fault or conservative plate boundary since these faults neither create or destroy the lithosphere, is a type of fault whose relative motion is mainly horizontal in either left or right direction. Furthermore Transform faults end abruptly and are connected on both sides to other faults, ridges or subduction zones. While most transform faults are hidden in the deep oceans were they form a series of short Zigzags accommodating seafloor spreading, the best known are those on land near the margins of the plates
